It's almost vacation eve!

Seriously, y'all....I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. I am so excited! We are going out of town on Friday and tonight is my last night at work for 14 days. Yes, 14 glorious work-free days full of laying on a beach sipping a bud light lime-arita.

My husband's family has a reunion every year in North Carolina and this is our first year going together. B hasn't been in 5 years, and not counting the stop we made 2 years ago for an hour, I have never been. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to the reunion that much, but we have plans to go stay at my grandad's beach house in Virginia and I cannot wait.

Our plan is to leave Friday, stay in North Carolina Saturday and Sunday, and first thing Monday morning drive into Virginia for the rest of the week. We actually just decided to for sure go about a week ago. We are both in school so I am missing one class while he is missing 3. Unfortunatley, poor timing occured and I have a test in my Monday class, but the teacher is working with me so instead of a zero, my final exam will count twice. That can either help me or come back to bit me. (Did I mention the final is the Monday after we get back from vacay? Yeah...terrible.)

Even though the school aspect stresses me out just thinking about it, what made me decide that it would be 1000% worth missing an important class? All of this time with my hubby. We work really weird schedules and on certain days don't see each other at all. For instance, this past week I have spent one night with him and at most 4 hours together during the day. He works late nights (up to 4 a week) has a morning class twice a week, and one night class. I work one day, one night, and I have a morning class once a week. (I know, we are lucky that we see each other at all....I have alot of friends and family who are military and have spouses that are deployed.) So a week with basically nothing but being together....hurry up Friday!

We have been on a few road trips together before. For our 2 year dating anniversary I bought tickets to an Atlanta Braves game so we drove to Atlanta for that.

A random roadtip where we ended up in Siesta Key, FL. For B's 29th birthday we packed a weekend bag, got in the car, and just drove wherever the road took us. This might have been my favorite weekend trip!

(If you are ever in Siesta Key, look this place up. Then thank me:) )

We drove to Virginia about 2 years ago and spent a week with family at my Grandad's beach house.
(sadly I don't have a picture of this on my phone or this computer. I will put one in later, for sure)

And one of our favorite things (that we havent done in a while, actually) is to wake up early on a Saturday morning, drive to Orlando and spend the day/night on Universal's City Walk. Normally this isn't a planned trip, just a spur of the moment 'Let's get out and do something' decision.
(One of many daquiri's we have enjoyed on city walk!)

Well, I am off to finish my night at work. 4 hours down, 8 hours to go. I think I can, I think I can.......

Back to reality

For the past 2 years, I have worked in a hospital setting, so I work 12 hour shifts. Since I am part time, my 12 hour shifts are only twice a week. If I schedule my days right, I can have almost 10 days off in a row.

This past week? I had 8 days off. It was amazing! I spent time with B, my family, and my friends. It is always such a nice break from work, but it makes it so much harder to come back. Even though work has been exhausting today, it is worth it to schedule myself like that.....sometimes.

Highlights of my time off....
My dad's half brother, William and his wife, Jessica stopped by my parents house last Wednesday night on their way to Miama. They live in Virginia, so we don't see them that often. It was nice to spend some time and celebrate the fourth of July with them.

Friday night, my friend Rachel and I went to Ulta for their Frizz-Free Friday! Living Proof has a new line of frizz free products out so every Friday in July they are having a special where they wash/dry/style your hair....for free! We had our hair done, and then went to dinner at Olive Garden. We devoured enjoyed a pitcher of sangria while catching up. After dinner, I met my friend Jen to head out to the beach bars for a few drinks, and to see my husband at work. (He works at one of the bars)

The rest of my time off work, was spent lounging by the pool, hanging out with my hubs and our sweet puppy, and trying to get myself back into a gym routine. We are doing a Rock/Semi trash the dress later this year & my dress would be a little... (ahem) snug....if I didn't hit the gym. I have definitley gained a few of those newlywed pounds :)

How it all started...

My husband, Brian, and I met at a mutual friend's 21st birthday party at a local hookah lounge. We talked for a few minutes, but I never really thought I would see him again after that night. (I remember calling my best friend on the way home and telling her about a pretty cute guy that I met!)

The first time we ever went out

Fast forward 7 months, and I was the maid of honor in (at the time) one of my best friend's wedding. The couple had a joint bachelor/bachelorette party and, as fate would have it, Brian was one of the groom's groomsmen! We talked, drank, laughed the night away and at the end of the night decided to exchange numbers. The party was 2 weeks before the wedding, and in those 2 weeks, we talked on the phone/texted each other all the time, and hung out as much as we could. On the night of the Rehearsal dinner, we decided to officially start dating and have spent almost every day together since. That was almost 4 years ago.

My 23rd birthday

On February 19, 2011 Brian proposed at one of our favorite spots, right by the water at the Fort in St Augustine. It really was one of the happiest days of my life, and saying yes was the best decision I have ever made :)

Right before B proposed!!

We were married on November 5, 2011 in a beautiful ceremony at an old colonial house in our hometown. We had an outside ceremony, right on the water. It was gorgeous.
He kissed his bride :)

Finally Husband & Wife

That is the short version of our story. I cannot wait to tell all the details of our wedding day with you!!

Fresh Start

Hey y'all! This is obviously my first post on my new blog :)

I was blogging at Breakfast at Ashley's, but it was short lived and I really want to keep this one up. I love, love, love keeping up with blogger and now that I am slowly, but surely learning how to set this up by myself I cannot wait to share the past year, and future events with you guys!

A little about myself, I am a twenty something from Florida. I am currently trying to go back to school to pursue a nursing degree & I work at a local hospital. I am a newlywed as of November 5th and I cannot express how much I love being a wife :)
